WooHoo! Spring break! That means a 10 day weekend. No kids. No busses. No heavy responsibility. Hmm.. No pay. ....... It's worth it!!!!

Good charter; Pick people up. Drive them to where they want to go. Wait. Drive them back. Mostly it's waiting, and you get paid for the whole time.
Bad charter, (aka "split"); Pick up, drive, go away. Stop getting paid. Come back in a couple of hours and drag 'em back. Now there's probably no time to go home before PM routs. Hang around someplace for free. Nuts.

Back in the saddle.
Got to drive my bus again, finally. The body is just about perfect again, and the worst of the upholstery has been replaced, not repaired. I was in heaven.
My last route of the day was a riot. All the younger kids joined in a lively game of ball, which meant that they were all out of their seats. Nothing I could do on the freeway but yell, and they ignored that. Once on the street and at a red light, I saw one kid catch the ball. I called him by name and ordered him to bring the ball to me. He did, but slapped it hard into my hand in defiance, then strutted back to his friends and a lot of laughing.
I opened the door without hesitation, and out went the ball. That was unexpected. They shut up and sat down. It was just a ratty old tennis ball, and probably a found toy. Those kids aren't the tennis types.

Still no 749.
Fine. My bus is back from upstate after repairs. I was thrilled! My loaner vibrates so much that my teeth are coming loose. But wait. Now it's in the shop here for some damned reason. It was up and running when they snatched it, and had just passed state inspection. Now it's repaired and not fit to drive. Go figure.

Almost a day off.
No city school attendance today, but I pulled a 4 hour charter. Took a bunch of little kids to see the movie "robots".
The instruments on my borrowed bus are haunted. The tach and speedometer go all the way up, and all the way down together over and over. It only happens once in a while so reporting it probably wouldn't help. The voltmeter went all the way to the bottom for about 15 minutes, then behaved for the rest of the trip.
